Conclusion:
After everything we have learned in our project, we now know that teen suicide and mental illnesses are becoming more and more common in the United States, and all around the world today. We learned that the rates of teen suicide have been dramatically increasing since the 1990’s, and are continuing to increase now. Mental illnesses can vary, from anxiety to depression, there are many forms of mental illnesses. Depression and anxiety are among some of the most common. Sadly a lot of children and teenagers are being bullied and made fun of for their mental illness, or about them being “depressed”. Due to some of these bullies, it has pushed more people into committing harmful crimes against themselves, such as suicide. We have learned that these are all major issues that need to be resolved so that these people can feel better about themselves, and so that they might be more encouraged to get help if needed.
Solutions:
After learning all about different mental illnesses, and about teen suicide, we have come up with some ways that we can help people who are trying to deal with these things. First of all, we need to spread awareness about these mental illnesses so that other people will be able to notice signs of a person who might have a mental illness so they can get help if needed. Also we need to inform student on these topics, such as mental illnesses, and teen suicide, so that if they know of anyone in their school or community they can get them help. Or if they realize that they might be making fun of someone for any of these things, that they might realize what they are doing is wrong and stop. This might also make other people take action to stop other bullies from teasing other kids who are dealing with these issues. We need to take action to raise awareness for teen suicide, and mental illnesses.
